CAMEO

Unfortunately at the end of 2018 we had to bring to an end this Mothers' Union project in the London Diocese due to GDPR (Data Protection) and our inability to obtain the information we required.  Last Christmas we enclosed a letter with the cards we have always sent to all our clergy widows explaining the situation.

History

Just over ten years ago, in 2006,  Lynette Paul was asked by a Clergy widow who had come to London from Leicester to live with her daughter “what does London Diocese do for Clergy Widows?”

After some investigation it transpired that there was nothing for Clergy Widows and the Bishop of London asked Lynette Paul if the Mothers’ Union would look after the Clergy Widows in the London Diocese; a new project was started.

The C of E Pensions Board supplied the list of names and invitations were sent out for Afternoon Tea at Diocesan House where the Clergy Widows decided they wanted to meet and chat.  A name for the group was needed and the son of the lady who first enquired came up with CAMEO – Come and Meet Each Other.

Christmas and Easter cards are sent every year and all are invited to an afternoon tea party on Ascension Day at Holy Trinity, Sloane Square.
