Some members from St. Nicholas, Shepperton, have for the past few years taken to car-booting on a Saturday morning to raise funds. Friends, family, and members of the congregation have given them a steady supply of unwanted goods, household linens, cushions, curtains and lots of bric-a-brac. One member had a large double garage which was used for storage, another readily lent three sturdy folding tables, and even a dress rail was provided when required.Although the initial 06.45 start from home was always a daunting thought, the mornings always proved a time of great camaraderie between the members and 'customers', the M.U. Profile was made very visible to the general public. Luckily weather was usually good, overall verdict was enjoyable, but hard work! A great way to raise funds. |
