Easter Message from our Diocesan President

10 Apr 2020

Dear Friends,

This is my message to you during a strange Holy Week.  We are travelling with Christ on his journey to the cross, at the same time we are all travelling our own journeys of suffering at this difficult time.

Our church buildings are closed, but the church people, isn't.  It has been wonderful to see the way the church has risen to the challenge of isolation and distancing.

My own church broadcasts morning prayer each day, stations of the cross and Sunday Eucharist with services planned for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Day.  There is so much available on
line and I have learnt so much about technology - had my first meeting via Zoom last week.

My prayers are with those who haven't access to the internet, so if you know someone in that situation, pick up the phone or drop them a card.

Being on my own, routine is essential to help me get through the day.  It is som easy to put things off knowing there is always tomorrow.

As we walk towards Good Friday for many the cross is a place of pain but for us, because we know what happens three days later, it is a place of hope.  Let us hold on to that hope and look forward to when we can come out of our homes again.

I'll finish with Isaiah 41 v 10 which +Emma (MU Central Chaplain) used in her Easter message 'Do not be afraid - I am with you!  I am your God - let nothing terrify you!  I will make you strong and help you;  I will protect you and save you'

Continue to pray for all our members, MSH, key workers and every single person in the world as Covid 19 has had an effect on the lives of each and everyone of us.

Have a blessed Holy Week and Easter.

Love and prayers

Sue

Diocesan President
